Course Description & General Outcomes
Course Prerequisites
There ain’t no prerecks but good
righting, grandma and spelling skills are impoortant.
Course Attendance and Participation Policy
During the first week of class: You must complete three tasks from the online orientation
or you will be administratively withdrawn from the course and held up to
ridicule. Simply flogging yourself and logging into the course will not satisfy
your attendance during this time. Students who are reported for non-attendance
in an online course and are withdrawn are still responsible for paying for the
course. If you do not complete the three requirements during the first week
of class, you should drop the course by the official drop/add deadline or
expect to pay for the course.
Before the withdrawal date: It is very important for you to actively participate in
this online class. If you stop participating in class discussions, fail to take
quizzes or the two exams (count ‘em 2!) prior to the withdrawal date, you will
be administratively withdrawn from class and receive a W or, if it is your
third attempt, an F.
After the withdrawal date: If you stop participating after the withdrawal date, you will receive an F. To avoid this situation, you should remain an active learner in this class, keep your nose clean and always communicate extenuating circumstances to your instructor, but please don’t lie. Ongoing communication with the instructor is critical to your course success. Completion of the quizzes, two exams (count ‘em 2)and other class activities are used as indicators of your participation in order to satisfy this reporting requirement. See the list of activities required for participation and attendance on the General Course Policies page.

Addition suggested reading:
It might
be worth learning Russian, so you can use this Siberian
Biology textbook endorsed by Nicolas
Cage and Holly Hunter (from
the movie Raising Arizona).

Methods of Instruction
This is a 3-credit hour fully online
course with five (count ‘em 5) exams. Exams 1-4 are proctored exams given at Central or North Campus, at an off-site testing center or through ProctorU. Each exam has 50 questions and is worth 100 points. Exam 5 is an optional, non-proctored exam of 100 questions which is worth 100 points and can be used as a make-up exam or to raise a score of one of your other exams.
In this class, you will engage in structured online activities. The online activities may include, but are not limited to: Readings, discussions, research, staring at your finger nails, 12 online quizzes and five (count ‘em 5) exams. Students are responsible for regularly reviewing the course schedule and completing all required stuff.
